It’s Gonna be May

I know you’re probably sick of this title, butttt I SAW JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE IN MAY SO IT WORKS!

Starting from the top:

May started off with some leftover birthday celebrations. My sister’s birthday is May 5th, but she was out of town then the next weekend I was gone, so we celebrated a little late (better late than never!) I got her a bunch of cute little things and then a mattress for her new SUV for when she goes camping.

My friend Becky got me a Wine and Cheese tasting at the Mozzarella Company in Deep Ellum (which I had been wanting to do FOREVER!). It was super fun and we kept stealing extra samples from the empty seats across from us 🙂

They also have a cheese making class that I want to try at some point. You leave with THREE POUNDS of cheese!

I finally got a chance to go visit my friends Meg and Ash in Seattle! We’d been talking about it for ages and finally made it happen 🙂 They just bought a new house so I was their first guest! It was a short trip, but I plan to come back very soon.

I got in late Thursday night and they basically just picked me up and we went home and went to bed. The next day Ash had to go to work so Meg and I dropped her off at the train and then went to brunch in Tacoma (where they actually live). I had THE BEST smoked salmon Eggs Benedict in the world complete with coffee and mimosas!

Then we walked around Tacoma and shopped at these cute stores so of course I had to buy some souvenirs. 🙂 Then we went to the Glass Museum of Tacoma where they have the works of Chihuly (you’ve seen his art in the ceiling of the Bellagio in Vegas). I am pretty sure there was an admission fee, but Meg and I are pros at sneaking into places we are not supposed to be 🙂

After the museum Meg had to go to work for the afternoon so she dropped me back off at home and I took the opportunity to start a new book and spend some quality time with their puppies, Fern and Millie. Meg and Ash got home later and we just hung out and told stories.

The next day was Saturday and Meg didn’t have to work so we made that our Seattle day! I had been to Seattle with my family a long time ago, but we didn’t get a chance to do everything. This time Meg and I went to Pike’s Market for some coffee and pastries.

We went to the Troll under the bridge next then went to lunch where our waitress either kept forgetting about us or was saying something super weird.

Meg and I like to go to Open Houses and pretend we are really fancy, but by the time we were finished with lunch it was too late for an open house. We tried to sneak into the Houseboat neighborhood where the houseboat from Sleepless in Seattle was filmed, but we couldn’t get right next to it. After that she drove me around her Aunt’s neighborhood where all of these $10 million dollar houses were. CRAZY. I saw where Bill Gate’s dad’s house was!

We went back to the house to get Ash and go to dinner at this awesome ramen place. Best ramen I’ve ever had hands down! Meg had been raving about Tully so we went to this slightly sketchy movie theater and happened to be the only people in the theater! It was to just be able to talk during a movie (especially during some of the WTF scenes!). A bunch of street children started running through the theater, but we scared them and they left fairly quickly.

The next day we just kinda hung around the house until it was time for me to go to the airport. I found out that with my Citibank American Airlines credit card it gets me into the Alaska Airlines lounge too since they are partners! I hung out in there for a little while before my flight then headed home! It was Mother’s Day and my mom picked me up from the airport so I could give her her gift.

Justin Timberlake Concert:

JT played two shows in Dallas. We couldn’t get tickets to the first night, but apparently the second night was wayyy better so I’m glad that worked out for us. We both separately made Sephora reservations to get our makeup done, but at different Sephoras! I went to the Galleria, got my makeup done, booked it over to the DART station to meet Rachelle and ride over to the American Airlines Center. We had a nice little train ride over, got some drinks, took some selfies, and found our seats.

We tried out best to get picked for VIP, but we were in the nosebleed section and no one could see us dancing our faces off to win. We still had a great time and took tons of grainy pictures of Justin doin’ his thang. He played ALL the classics and of course played a bunch of songs from his new album, Man of the Woods. I am SO HAPPY he played his old stuff since I hadn’t really listened to his new CD a ton. Everyone was dancing and having a great time! There were people of all ages, ethnicities, etc. Lots of pregnant women too I noticed! He played like 27 songs so we didn’t get out of there for a long time. Rachelle lives in Houston so I don’t get to see her too much anymore so it was really nice to get to spend that time with her listening to one of our favorite musicians 🙂

What a way to end May! Happy Reading!
