Plastic Surgery Journey: Week Two Observations

Welcome back to my Plastic Surgery Journey post VSG! Here are some observations from my second week post-op from an extended tummy tuck and BBL.
If you need to recap here are my other posts from my journey:

My surgery package as I spoke about in some of my previous posts, included a week stay at a hotel. After surgery most plastic surgeons suggest that you don’t travel within 7-10 days after surgery. The idea of having to get back on a plane after being cut in half sounded like a terrible idea to me. I fortunately work remote and will be for the foreseeable future so there was actually no real rush to return home. After the week stay in the hotel, I got an AirBnb nearby for a month to be able to have the best recovery possible.

The surgery package also came with three lymphatic drainage massages as I spoke about in my last post, but you need many more massages after surgery to help move healing along. I was fortunately able to find Tiffany at @SerenHands2020 and she comes to my house multiple times a week to do my massages. At this point the massages are less about squeezing fluid out of you (although that is an added benefit), but more about preventing scar tissue and helping to shape your body post-lipo. Go check out her page to see the before and afters!

I was also able to go get my drain taken out at my surgery center during week 2. I had never had a drain before so I wasn’t sure what to expect when it was getting taken out, but it was totally fine. It only took like .2 seconds, felt a little tug, then it was out! It was just kinda annoying to have it, but it’s so nice now that it is out to not have to worry about it anymore. At that point too my surgical tape had fallen off and my nurse said that my scar is healing really well, which made me feel good.

I had taken 2 weeks and one day off of work (not including Memorial Day), but I went back to work on and off for a few days after Memorial Day to kinda ease me back into the working world. As previously stated, I work remotely online, but if you have an in-person job I would not recommend going back in before even three weeks. I don’t feel well enough to drive or even walk very far so I can’t even imagine having to go into an office let alone a more physically demanding job. You are not cleared to even lift or bend over before 6 weeks so take that into consideration if you are trying to figure out you own plastic surgery journey. I still cannot get in and out of bed on my own so also make sure you have a caretaker who can help you with that, watch over you when you shower, help make you food, etc.

At the end of week 2 I was feeling well enough to go on a little outing to get some coffee at my favorite place in Sunny Isle (shoutout El Tropico!) and then have some dinner at Juniper on the Water. I thought it would be more normal for people in Miami to see someone walking around who clearly was recovering from plastic surgery as well as someone who looks like a grandma. Apparently I was wrong because my grey-haired, stooped over, compression socks wearing, BBL pillow-carrying self got quite a few side-eyes at dinner. I am still trying to eat high-protein, low sodium so we got a lot of fish and indulged in some chocolate cheesecake at dinner. It was soooo nice to be out and about for the first time in almost a month.

That’s it for my week two recap! Week three just started so be on the lookout in a few days for my next post recapping any new changes as well as my post on tips/tricks/FAQ! If you have any questions you want me to answer feel free to leave a comment or DM me on IG!

Happy Reading!
